Polish volunteer fire brigades clinch top spots at national rescue championships

Volunteer fire brigades from the Bestwina municipality won the overall title in the OSP category of the XVIII Polish Rescue Championships held in Barczewo, also securing third place in the general classification behind PSP Pleszew and KP PSP Krotoszyn. Their teammates from Janowice placed third among OSP units and 15th overall. The competition featured 32 teams from across the country completing 18 demanding tasks, including cardiac arrest simulations, mass‑casualty scenarios, traffic accidents, knife attacks and severe bleeding control.

In the Youth Polish Water and Flood Rescue Championships, the OSP RW Ślężany team earned a bronze medal, finishing third in the overall youth ranking. They were the only representatives from the Masovian Voivodeship among 18 squads nationwide, excelling in boat‑handling, rescue throws and dam‑building exercises. Their success reflects months of intensive training and highlights the role of youth fire‑brigade units in Poland’s rescue preparedness.
