Polish Volunteer Fire Brigades Receive New Equipment Grants

Volunteer fire units in Poland are receiving modern equipment and vehicles through government‑backed grant programmes. In the municipality of Obrowo (Zawał), the local brigade was awarded funds from the national "Strengthen Your Environment" scheme run by Polskie Sieci Elektroenergetyczne (PSE). The grant provided a multi‑gas detector, a 8 kW generator, a smoke‑ventilation fan and a concrete saw, tools intended to speed rescue actions and protect public facilities during power outages or extreme weather. PSE has so far granted more than 1,500 projects worth over 33 million złoty.

In the Lower Silesian region, the voivodeship government launched a competition to fund the purchase of fire trucks for volunteer brigades. Up to 9.2 million złoty is earmarked for 2024‑25, with 50 units in 48 municipalities expected to receive vehicles ranging from light to heavy fire engines and micro‑buses. Applications must be submitted by 14 August 2026, and the purchases completed by the end of 2026. Regional officials said the support improves safety for residents of Lower Silesia and strengthens the capabilities of volunteer firefighters.
