Polish workers choose digital detox vacations as workplace overload rises
A recent HRK survey of 276 Polish specialists and managers shows that 72% limit internet and social‑media use while on holiday, 21% aim for almost total disconnection, and 44% believe a vacation without internet would be better. The trend, dubbed “deadzoning,” sees many seeking locations without mobile coverage or Wi‑Fi. At the same time, 25% of respondents plan to check work email during leave, with one‑third doing so daily, and nearly half begin preparing for work before the vacation ends. Platforms such as Slowhop report a 20% year‑on‑year rise in bookings for signal‑free accommodations, with many sites offering private, off‑grid settings.
A separate study commissioned by Devire reveals that Polish firms often lack effective vacation replacements: only 14.5% rate their backup plans as formally organized, while 22.1% of employees experience a noticeable increase in workload during the summer. About 17% take over tasks of absent colleagues, and 11.6% say this harms work quality. Nearly two‑thirds report feeling overloaded, and 58% of specialists and managers receive no benefits to support their vacation wellbeing.
