Polish wrestler Tomasz Mital clinches U17 world championship in Baku

Tomasz Mital, representing Poland, captured the gold medal at the U17 World Classic Wrestling Championships held in Baku, Azerbaijan. In the final he edged out Ukraine’s Hlib Jewsiejew (also spelled Yevsieiev) 3‑2 to claim the title in the 92 kg category.

Mital won all five of his bouts, beating competitors from Kyrgyzstan (Sanjar Stalbekov, 10‑0), Switzerland (Matti Eichmann, 7‑1), Hungary (Sandor David Antaly, 3‑1) and Turkey (Yusuf Yaser Aksu, 7‑3) before the final. He is also the reigning European champion in the same age group.

The victory was reported by United World Wrestling and highlighted as a major achievement for Polish wrestling at the youth level.
