Polish Youth Reject Parenthood Amid Rising Parenting Pressures

A growing number of young people in Poland are choosing not to have children, viewing modern parenthood as a demanding, high‑cost activity. Kindergarten teacher Agnieszka Kuźba explained on Facebook that raising a child now involves tightly scheduled activities, frequent medical consultations and a “professional‑level” approach, likening it to an elite sport with an “absurdly high entry fee.”

She contrasted this with life several decades ago, when children spent more time playing outdoors and parents did not scrutinise every behaviour. The intense planning and fear of developmental issues are cited as key reasons behind the declining interest in parenthood, a trend observed in many countries.

The commentary reflects broader concerns about low birth rates and the societal pressures that make starting a family increasingly challenging for the younger generation.
