Polish złoty weakens against major global currencies

The Polish złoty experienced significant depreciation against major global currencies during the week of October 22, 2026. On Friday, October 23, the currency fell against the US dollar, euro, Swiss franc, and British pound.

The British pound saw the largest increase, rising by 3.65 gr to reach 5.2498 zł. The US dollar also rose by 3.61 gr to 3.9247 zł. The Swiss franc and euro also strengthened, with the franc exceeding the 4.76 zł level.

Market analysts attribute the złoty's weakness to global factors, including risk aversion in capital markets and high oil prices, with Brent crude trading above $115 per barrel. These global conditions impact inflation and interest rate prospects. While domestic retail sales data was lower than expected, experts suggest global trends are the primary drivers, noting that the USD/PLN could potentially reach the 3.96 level in the near term.
