Polish złoty weakens as euro and US dollar rise

The Polish złoty has experienced significant weakening against major global currencies. According to data from the National Bank of Poland (NBP), the US dollar reached a rate of 3.8570 PLN on September 24, 2026, following a rise from 3.7931 PLN earlier in the week.

The euro has also strengthened considerably, reaching 4.39 PLN, a level noted as being among the highest in nearly three years. Other major currencies, including the British pound and the Swiss franc, have also seen increases against the złoty.

Analysts suggest several factors may be driving these fluctuations, including market speculation, expectations regarding Federal Reserve interest rate policies, and shifts in investor sentiment. Some market experts note that the dollar's strength persists despite de-escalation in the Middle East, potentially due to growing convictions that the FED may raise interest rates more aggressively than previously anticipated.
