Polish ZUS Highlights Accident Insurance Benefits from Day One

The Social Insurance Institution (ZUS) in Poland reminded that workers covered by accident insurance receive immediate financial support when a workplace accident or occupational disease occurs. Benefits include a sickness allowance equal to 100 % of the average salary paid from the first day of incapacity, without a waiting period. Additional entitlements comprise a rehabilitation benefit for up to 12 months, a disability pension and a one‑off compensation, all aimed at easing the financial impact on the injured employee.

ZUS spokesperson Wojciech Dyląg, regional press officer for the Subcarpathian province, explained that the scheme is designed to provide maximum support regardless of the length of prior contributions, allowing beneficiaries to focus on recovery.
