Polish ZUS outlines workplace accident benefits and compensation rates

The Social Insurance Institution (ZUS) reminds that accident insurance covers employees from the first day of coverage, providing a full‑pay sickness benefit, rehabilitation allowance, accident pension and a one‑off compensation based on the assessed percentage of health loss.

Current compensation is set at 1 781 zł per percent of permanent or long‑term health damage, increasing by 145 zł from 1 April 2026. For example, a 5 % loss yields 8 905 zł, while a 10 % loss yields 17 810 zł. ZUS aims to decide on compensation claims within 14 days of a complete dossier, after which payment is made within 30 days. Required documents include a claim form, an accident protocol completed by the employer and a medical completion statement (OL‑9). The benefits apply to all occupations, from construction and driving to office and teaching staff, and are paid regardless of the length of prior insurance participation.
