Polish‑Ukrainian officials discuss agriculture and deepen political ties

Poland’s Deputy Minister for Agriculture Jacek Czerniak visited Kyiv on 21‑22 May 2026 to attend the 11th meeting of the Polish‑Ukrainian Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation. He and his Ukrainian counterparts, including Vice‑Prime Minister Taras Kaczka, discussed eliminating market barriers for Polish agri‑food products, aligning Ukraine with EU food‑safety rules, climate protection and labour standards. Poland’s agricultural exports to Ukraine rose 23 % in 2025 to €1.176 billion, driven by animal feed, dairy, chocolate and coffee products.

In a separate political dialogue, Ukrainian parliament speaker Ruslan Stefanczuk met Polish Sejm Marshal Włodzimierz Czarzasty, stressing that continuous dialogue and cooperation are essential for both nations’ security and European future. The leaders addressed preparations for a reconstruction conference in Gdańsk, warned that Russian interference could exploit any bilateral disputes, and reaffirmed the strategic partnership that “there is no independent Poland without an independent Ukraine.”
