Politechnika Rzeszowska Leads International BOOST4STEM Project, ZUT Rises in Polish Patent Rankings

Politechnika Rzeszowska im. Ignacego Łukasiewicza was selected as the lead of an international consortium for the EIT Higher Education Initiative project BOOST4STEM. The €‑funded programme, running from 1 September 2026 for two years, will create a modern ecosystem to foster startup development and knowledge transfer. The consortium includes eleven partners from Poland, the Czech Republic, Croatia, Turkey and Bulgaria, and will involve around 6 000 students and staff across four faculties of the university.

In parallel, the Zachodniopomorski Uniwersytet Technologiczny (ZUT) in Szczecin reported 60 inventions granted patent protection in 2025, moving it to sixth place among Polish universities for innovative output. The Patent Office report highlighted that most patents in Poland originate from academic institutions, with ZUT’s growth following a rise from 50 patents the previous year. The university’s performance trails only Lublin University of Technology (128 patents) and Politechnika Rzeszowska (108 patents).
