Political analyst criticizes uneven legal treatment in Bosnia and Herzegovina

Political analyst Frano Yehuda Kolonomos Martinčević has raised concerns regarding the perceived unequal application of legal standards in Bosnia and Herzegovina. He highlighted a discrepancy between the prosecution of Fra Bonifacije Barbarić, related to the blessing of a monument for General Slobodan Praljak, and the Travnik Muftiate’s decision to award a prize named after Kasim-ef. Mašić, an individual associated with an SS division.

Martinčević argued that the Prosecutor's Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina must apply identical criteria to all three constituent peoples. He criticized the Office for reacting promptly in cases involving Croats and Serbs while failing to take similar action regarding Bosniak-related honors. He also noted the continued public commemoration of Sakib Mahmuljin, a former commander of the Army of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina convicted of war crimes.

Furthermore, Martinčević stated that his previous communications to the Office of the High Representative (OHR) regarding the Mašić award received only acknowledgment without political condemnation or serious analysis. He warned that without equality in how such historical and legal issues are addressed, the country's future coexistence remains uncertain.
