Political appointments and leadership qualities in Romania and Moldova
In Romania, discussions regarding political appointments in decentralized institutions continue. While some officials claim that professional competitions will be organized for certain positions to avoid political patronage, critics argue that all successive governments have historically appointed party members to roles such as prefects and sub-prefects.
In Moldova, sociologist and IMAS Director General Doru Petruți addressed the distinctions between political leadership qualities. He noted that candidates are often chosen based on three different criteria: their ability to win elections, their potential for growth, or their ability to achieve unanimity within a political party, emphasizing that these qualities should not be confused.
