Political campaign procession in Riachão leaves one dead and several injured

A political campaign procession in Riachão, Maranhão, resulted in a fatality and several injuries when a sound truck, known as a ‘trio elétrico’, reportedly lost its brakes. The victim, identified as Eduardo Massoli (also referred to as Dudu Fiquene), was the chief of staff for the Municipal Secretariat of Agriculture in Imperatriz and a member of a prominent local political family.

Other individuals were injured in the accident, including the Municipal Attorney General of Imperatriz, Solon Rodrigues dos Anjos Neto, and Councilman Flamarion Amaral. Authorities are investigating the specific circumstances of the crash.

Following the incident, Maranhão gubernatorial candidate Eduardo Braide issued a statement expressing deep regret and announced the suspension of his campaign schedule for the coming days to respect the victims and their families.
