Political candidates clarify 2027 intentions for Necochea

Political figures in the Necochea region are clarifying their intentions regarding the 2027 electoral cycle.

Miguel Ángel Gargaglione, the current mayor of San Cayetano, has declined a proposal to run for mayor of Necochea. Gargaglione stated he will remain in San Cayetano, citing personal reasons including his family, his age, and health considerations following a cardiac procedure last year. He noted that while the regional interest in his candidacy was surprising, his commitment to San Cayetano remains his priority.

Meanwhile, National Deputy Jimena López has expressed her desire to serve as the mayor of Necochea, describing the role as a highly honorable position. However, she emphasized that her candidacy for 2027 is contingent upon the unity and strategic direction of the Peronist movement and the decisions of national leadership, specifically mentioning the need for alignment with figures such as Sergio Massa.
