Serbia: List of 49 pardoned individuals released by Aleksandar Vučić
The Serbian Ministry of Justice has released the complete list of 49 individuals pardoned by former President Aleksandar Vučić on September 27, 2026, just before his departure from office. The Ministry stated that the names were withheld until the decisions were officially delivered to the competent courts to ensure institutional responsibility.
The list includes several high-profile figures, such as former Ministry of Internal Affairs state secretary Dijana Hrkalović, who was released from prosecution for influence peddling. Other notable pardons include Nebojša Đokić for money laundering, Marko Pavlović for attempted murder, Dragana Živadinović for abuse of office and forgery, and Miloš Dugalić, who was released from serving his prison sentence.
The pardons have drawn significant criticism from student movements and legal experts. Critics argue the decisions interfere with the judiciary, particularly as the list includes individuals accused of attacking students during protests and members of the so-called “Novi Sad group.” Legal professionals have described the move as a controversial use of constitutional powers.
