Political developments in Alghero and the Italian Democratic Party

In Alghero, center-right council groups led by Tedde, Salvatore, Pais, Cocco, Fadda, and Caria have called for a political shift in the city's executive. The opposition claims the majority supporting Mayor Cacciotto is paralyzed by internal tensions, political reshuffling, and disputes over the redistribution of assessorates. They argue this instability is stalling administrative activities, leaving public works unfinished and delaying necessary interventions for citizens.

On the national stage, Democratic Party (PD) Secretary Elly Schlein has expressed availability to run for Prime Minister following the party's national assembly. Local PD secretary Roberto Galletti noted that the party aims to build a broad alliance to address issues such as labor and low incomes. The party intends to integrate the experiences of local administrators into its progressive platform while navigating relationships with moderate and centrist factions.
