Political developments in Chile and social dialogue efforts in Mexico

In Chile, the Electoral Qualifying Tribunal (Tricel) rejected a request to remove the Metropolitan Regional Governor of Santiago, Claudio Orrego. The attempt, filed by regional councilors from the Republican Party and UDI, was dismissed as being based on political motivations and false allegations.

Separately, concerns have been raised regarding proposed modifications to the General Ordinance of Urbanism and Construction (OGUC). Minister Iván Poduje recently withdrew Supreme Decree No. 68 from the oversight process following objections filed with the Comptroller General. These proposed changes, which involve adjustments to housing and parking regulations, were reportedly coordinated by the Center for Public Studies (CEP).

In Mexico, Juan José Sierra Álvarez, president of the Mexican Employers' Confederation (Coparmex), met with the Pope in Rome during the IV Fratelli Tutti Encounter. The meeting focused on promoting social dialogue, sustainable development, and the consolidation of the National Social, Economic, and Environmental Council (CONSEA) to foster collaboration between employers and workers.
