Senegal and Guinea leaders announce major national initiatives

In Senegal, President Bassirou Diomaye Faye has launched the 'Dundal JOJ' national mobilization campaign to prepare for the 2026 Youth Olympic Games in Dakar. To ensure inclusive participation, the government plans to distribute 150,000 school kits to students and teachers and provide 200,000 tickets to schools and associations, specifically targeting youth from disadvantaged neighborhoods. The initiative also includes environmental components such as tree planting and urban beautification projects.

In Guinea, President Mamadi Doumbouya has issued five non-negotiable directives to his government to ensure the success of the Simandou 2040 program. These mandates include strict discipline in project execution, the implementation of a monthly physical and financial dashboard for the Government Secretariat, and the prohibition of wasteful or prestige spending. Doumbouya also required that all projects undergo complete feasibility studies and secure legal structuring before funding is granted. Additionally, ministers have been instructed to conduct regular field visits to monitor progress and engage directly with citizens rather than governing solely from their offices.
