Political developments in Mali and the Democratic Republic of the Congo

In Mali, Transition President Assimi Goïta received the 2025 annual report from the Mediator of the Republic, Aminata Mallé. The report detailed the handling of 12,488 citizen concerns and 184 formal complaints, noting that 22% of cases related to land issues. The document highlighted the establishment of a specialized land division and outlined future goals, including the digitalization of services and the construction of new territorial delegations.

In the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Raphaël Katebe Katoto has expressed support for proposed constitutional changes. Following consultations in the Grand Katanga region, Katoto stated that the current Constitution no longer meets the country's current realities. He further expressed a personal desire for President Félix Tshisekedi to serve beyond the current two-term limit, suggesting the President should lead for five or six terms to complete his mission, citing popular sovereignty as a justification for such evolution.
