Political developments in Mozambique and Angola

In Mozambique, the Anamola Party held its second ordinary session of the National Council in Maputo. President Venâncio Mondlane stated the meeting was decisive for consolidating the party's structure ahead of the 2028 municipal elections and the 2029 general elections. The council focused on political strategy, mobilization, and approving the party's budget to meet long-term strategic objectives.

In Angola, the MPLA began its 14th Provincial Ordinary Conference in Luanda. Attended by over 1,200 delegates, the conference aims to renew party organs and define strategies for the 2026–2031 period. Key objectives include evaluating the previous mandate, reinforcing party unity, and continuing the fight against corruption and nepotism. The event serves as a step toward the party's 9th Ordinary Congress.

Additionally, the African National Congress (ANC) is working with Angolan authorities on a project to locate, identify, and repatriate the remains of South African combatants who died in Angola during the liberation struggle. ANC representative Thembi Majola met with MPLA Vice-President Mara Quiosa to discuss the process, which includes allowing families to visit historical sites.

In a separate meeting in Luanda, MPLA Vice-President Mara Quiosa met with leaders from several religious denominations to strengthen cooperation. The discussions focused on community challenges and the role of churches in promoting national reconciliation and encouraging citizens to participate in electoral registration processes.
