Political developments in Rajasthan and Delhi involving BJP and AAP
In Rajasthan, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is set to release its state-level manifesto, termed a ‘Sankalp Patra’ (Resolution Letter), for the upcoming urban local body elections. BJP State President Madan Rathore stated that the document was developed through surveys and discussions with local leaders to address specific urban needs. The party intends to present these resolutions as a ‘guarantee’ from Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma. The Congress party has criticized the move, accusing the BJP of making empty promises.
Separately, BJP leader H.S. Phoolka has accused the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) of politicizing the 1984 Sikh massacre for electoral gain. Phoolka criticized AAP's participation in a memorial service for Sajjan Kumar, a person convicted in connection with the massacre. He further alleged that the AAP-led Delhi government delayed the distribution of additional compensation approved by the central government, suggesting the funds were being withheld to be used as a political tool during upcoming elections.
