Political developments in Uruguay and Colombia involve ministerial summons and program transfers
In Uruguay, opposition leaders have summoned three ministers to Parliament. Interior Minister Carlos Negro will appear before the Security and Coexistence Commission to address the expansion of Brazilian criminal groups, specifically the Primeiro Comando da Capital, and the progress of the National Security Plan. Education and Culture Minister José Carlos Mahía will be consulted regarding the decision to annul a sanction against prosecutor Stella Alciaturi. Additionally, Labor Minister Juan Castillo faces an interpellation supported by multiple political parties concerning ongoing conflicts at the port.
In Colombia, the liquidation of the Ministry of Equality has revealed critical issues within the Salvia Strategy and the Line 155, programs designed to prevent femicide and gender-based violence. Liquidator Jhon Milton Rodríguez reported expired contracts, unpaid salaries, and a lack of social security for staff. To ensure continuity, the government has ordered a sanitation plan to settle debts and has initiated interministerial meetings to transfer these programs to the Ministry of the Interior, led by Rodrigo Lara.
