Political dispute in Çorum over public display of social aid

A political dispute has emerged in Çorum, Turkey, following social media posts by Yakup Alar, the AK Party Provincial Chairman. Alar shared details of a program providing winter coats, school bags, and various supplies to families and children in need, stating that his political approach is centered on human solidarity and compassion.

Dinçer Solmaz criticized the public display of these aid efforts, arguing that true leadership involves changing the systemic issues that force people into poverty rather than merely managing social assistance. Solmaz stated that presenting social support as a success story is insufficient, emphasizing that the goal should be creating a system where citizens do not rely on such aid. He further noted that fair wages, equal opportunity, and social security are fundamental rights rather than privileges.
