Political disputes arise in Canary Islands and Costa Rica
In the Canary Islands, Carmen Hernández of the Nueva Canarias-Bloque Canarista (NC-BC) party has called for a new regional housing law. She criticized the government led by Fernando Clavijo, alleging that the administration has relied on propaganda and speculation rather than addressing the housing emergency. Hernández noted that over 36,000 people are currently registered as housing applicants and argued that existing measures and decrees have failed to mobilize construction or provide a stable policy framework.
In Costa Rica, Deputy Claudia Dobles of the Coalición Agenda Ciudadana (CAC) has called for the dismissal of Minister Rodrigo Chaves. The demand follows an incident in Cartago where Chaves reportedly mocked a citizen who asked a question regarding identification requirements for patriotic events. Dobles described the minister's behavior as “bochornoso” (shameful) and disrespectful, suggesting that President Laura Fernández should take action to maintain democratic standards.
