Political disputes arise in Castelló and Ceuta over mosquito control and tax deadlines

In Castelló, the PSPV-PSOE has criticized the Provincial Council for failing to respond effectively to a mosquito plague affecting the coastal strip from the capital to Almenara. Maria Jiménez, a provincial deputy, noted that the infestation is occurring in autumn, suggesting a shift in proliferation cycles likely driven by climate change. She urged authorities to move beyond simple fumigation and instead improve breeding site surveillance and coordination with local municipalities.

In Ceuta, the Movimiento por la Dignidad y la Ciudadanía (MDyC) has called on the regional government to extend payment deadlines for the IPSI tax to assist small businesses and the self-employed. The group accused the Ministry of Finance of lacking political will to alleviate the fiscal burden on local businesses, noting that similar deadline suspensions were implemented via decree during the 2021 pandemic.
