Political disputes arise in Guanajuato over water crisis and candidacies
In the Guanajuato state legislature, PAN deputy Angélica Casillas Martínez rejected comparisons made by Morena deputy María Eugenia García Oliveros regarding the state's water crisis. Casillas argued that Guanajuato's water situation is distinct from that of Jalisco and Nuevo León, noting that contamination in local wells is linked to the natural composition of aquifers and anthropogenic factors rather than mismanagement comparable to other states.
Separately, PAN deputy Juan Carlos Romero Hicks dismissed the possibility of former mayor Alejandro Navarro Saldaña running for office in 2027. This follows Navarro's appointment to the Municipal DIF. Romero Hicks stated that Navarro lacks the necessary political attributes for a future candidacy and cautioned against using the social assistance institution for personal political projects or ego-driven motives.
