Political disputes arise in Italian local and national commissions

In Quartu Sant’Elias, the Fratelli d’Italia (FdI) group has submitted an agenda to the City Council requesting the reactivation of the youth council. The proposal emphasizes the need to update its members, including the two youngest councilors from both the majority and minority, representatives from high schools, and student representatives from the provincial student council. The group argues that the council must be made operational to fulfill its mandate of coordinating with local institutions and mayors.

At the national level, tensions flared during a Covid Commission hearing involving former minister Roberto Speranza. Opposition members sought to conclude the session after nearly nine hours, arguing that Speranza had addressed all necessary topics. However, members of the majority, including Alice Buonguerrieri, pushed to continue the hearing to discuss vaccines, the Green Pass, and procurement processes. The session was eventually closed by Commission President Marco Lisei due to exhaustion rather than a formal political decision.
