Political disputes arise in Lorca and Chiclana over local governance

In Lorca, the Socialist Group (PSOE) has accused the PP and Vox coalition of using their majority to reject three key motions regarding healthcare, housing, and taxation. The rejected proposals included plans to push for a second public hospital, implement eleven municipal measures to improve housing access, and process a 25% reduction in the IBI (property tax). Isabel Casalduero, the Socialist spokesperson, criticized Mayor Fulgencio Gil for failing to demand commitments from the regional government and prioritizing party interests over resident needs.

In Chiclana, the Vox municipal group has raised concerns regarding the construction of the La Longuera municipal indoor swimming pool. Spokesperson Manuel Vela claimed the project fails to comply with the Regulation of Thermal Installations in Buildings (RITE), specifically regarding energy efficiency comparisons. Vox noted that technical errors, including insufficient ventilation calculations and missing data on heat recovery, were identified. The party warned that since the €6.4 million project relies heavily on European funds, any audit finding irregularities could lead the EU to withdraw financial aid, potentially shifting the cost burden to local taxpayers.
