Political disputes arise in Piedmont and Verbano-Cusio-Ossola

In Piedmont, opposition parties including the Democratic Party, Avs, and Stati Uniti d’Europa have denounced the center-right majority for blocking a regional council discussion regarding the former Ilva industrial crisis. The opposition expressed concern that the decision avoids an institutional confrontation on a situation affecting hundreds of workers and the regional production system, following a recent public meeting in Novi Ligure involving unions and local institutions.

In the Verbano-Cusio-Ossola region, the Center-Left Provincial Coalition has voiced support for a referendum to repeal the Valditara Law. The Supreme Court has cleared the way for the referendum, which seeks to abolish legislation requiring written parental consent for sexual and affective education in schools. The coalition argues that the law may hinder schools, particularly in smaller mountain and lake communities, from establishing stable educational programs, potentially driving students toward unfiltered online resources.
