Political disputes arise over municipal data and tax codes in Argentina
In Clorinda, the Frente de la Victoria–PJ opposition block has challenged municipal councilors aligned with Mayor Ariel Caniza regarding contradictions in the handling of tax and tariff codes. The opposition questioned why a citizen's proposal to modify these codes was rejected on the grounds that such matters are the mayor's exclusive competence, while the council leadership simultaneously claimed to be working on a reorganization of those same regulations.
The opposition also highlighted that this marks the third tax modification sent by the municipal executive in 2026, arguing that frequent partial changes demonstrate a lack of comprehensive debate regarding resident obligations.
In La Plata, political leader Martiniano Ferrer Picado has criticized the municipal government for alleged inconsistencies in public statistics. Ferrer Picado pointed to conflicting reports regarding attendance figures at a recent event, noting discrepancies between figures of 130,000, 140,000, and 160,000 people. He further cited previous errors in reported revenue figures and discrepancies in security data shared by the municipality compared to provincial information.
