Political disputes arise over party leadership and fund accountability
Political tensions are rising in the British Virgin Islands and the Bahamas regarding party leadership and fiscal transparency.
In the British Virgin Islands, commentator Claude Skelton Cline has criticized the leadership of the National Democratic Party (NDP). Skelton Cline claims the current leadership is preventing political reunification, suggesting that internal divisions and the actions of certain members are inadvertently benefiting Premier Dr. Natalio Wheatley and the governing Virgin Islands Party.
In the Bahamas, controversy surrounds the National Investment Fund (NIF). Critics have challenged statements made by Free National Movement (FNM) Chairman Dr. Duane Sands regarding the fund. Concerns have been raised over conflicting reports from government officials and a perceived lack of accountability regarding the whereabouts of $700 million, with current explanations only accounting for $310 million.
