In southern Tamaulipas, political activity is increasing ahead of the 2027 elections. Local sentiment in popular neighborhoods suggests a push for the return of former leaders to municipal offices.

Jesús “Chucho” Nader Nasrallah, currently a Federal Deputy, is being called upon by citizens to run for the municipal presidency of Tampico under the Acción Nacional (PAN) banner. Supporters cite his previous administration's social programs, such as “El Tampico brilla” and “Diciendo y haciendo,” as reasons for his potential return.

In Ciudad Madero, Adrián Oseguera Kernión is gaining traction as a candidate for mayor under the MORENA party. Reports indicate he has developed significant popular support among local families and various population centers within the oil-producing city.
