Political figures in Argentina call for institutional strengthening

Former Corrientes Governor Ricardo Guillermo Leconte has called for the recovery of ethics in public service and the strengthening of political institutions. During a radio interview, Leconte reflected on his political career, including his tenure as governor from 1987 to 1991 and his time as mayor of Corrientes during the Falklands War.

Leconte emphasized the importance of defending democracy, the republic, and judicial independence. He also highlighted the need for collective responses to social issues such as drug consumption among youth and violence against women.

In Santiago del Estero, ahead of Llamil Abdala’s inauguration as the new mayor of La Banda, local priest Padre Pepe discussed the importance of community identity. He urged new authorities to prioritize collective well-being over individualism, noting that the province’s communal values serve as a distinctive social trait.
