Political initiatives and municipal decisions reported in Niš and North Mitrovica
In Niš, Daliborka Miljković of the ‘Dr Dragan Milić’ Citizens' Group has submitted an initiative to name a street after Vladimir Cvijan. Cvijan was a lawyer, former SNS official, and advisor to Boris Tadić who later became a critic of Aleksandar Vučić. He passed away in January 2018 under circumstances that remain a subject of public interest. Miljković stated that the initiative aims to ensure that victims of the current regime are not forgotten.
In North Mitrovica, the Municipal Assembly has re-adopted a decision to remove the ‘I Love Mitrovica’ sign from King Peter Street. The proposal was brought forward by Srpska Lista members, with 13 out of 15 present councilors voting in favor. Assembly President Ivan Zaporožac noted that police had previously prevented the removal of the sign and stated that the assembly would seek an explanation regarding that interference and the original installation of the sign, which was reportedly placed without following proper municipal procedures.
