Political leaders address security and governance issues in Azad Kashmir and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa
Political leaders in Azad Kashmir held a consultative meeting at the residence of former Prime Minister Sardar Atiq Ahmed Khan to discuss the regional security situation. The meeting, attended by various political figures including former Prime Ministers and opposition leaders, expressed deep concern regarding the deteriorating law and order situation, particularly in the Poonch Division. Participants emphasized resolving the Kashmir issue in accordance with United Nations resolutions and reaffirmed solidarity with the freedom movement.
In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, leadership from the Pakistan Peoples Party Workers (PPP-W) expressed serious concerns regarding the suspension of the elected provincial government and the implementation of emergency measures. The party raised questions about the deployment of the Pakistan Army under Article 245 to assist civil administration and the reported detention of former elected representatives. PPP-W leaders called for legal transparency regarding detainees and stressed that security measures must remain within constitutional limits to protect democratic representation and provincial autonomy.
