Political leaders hold tributes for deceased APC figures in Nigeria and Sierra Leone

Political leaders and families are organizing tributes for prominent All Progressives Congress (APC) figures in Nigeria and Sierra Leone.

In Nigeria, the family of Chief Dr. Sunny Sylvester Moniedafe, known as the Jagaban Jimeta, has announced funeral arrangements following his death on October 25, 2026. The 70-year-old statesman was a significant figure within the APC in Adamawa State. Funeral rites are scheduled to begin with a night of tribute in Abuja on November 4, 2026, followed by the transport of his remains to Yola. A lying-in-state and funeral service will take place in Yola on November 6, 2026.

In Sierra Leone, Freetown Mayor Yvonne Aki-Sawyerr attended a Quranic recitation ceremony in Freetown to honor the late former APC National Chairman, Alhaji Minkailu Mansaray. The ceremony, held on November 1, 2026, marked the passing of four months and ten days since Mansaray’s death. Aki-Sawyerr described Mansaray as a man committed to his family and country, urging party unity to honor his legacy. The event was attended by several high-profile political figures, including former President Ernest Bai Koroma.
