Political leaders to discuss peace and social unrest in Colombia and Chile

Former Colombian President Juan Manuel Santos is scheduled to participate in the XXII Colombian History Congress in Pasto on October 9. He will join a panel titled ‘A diez años del proceso de paz’ (Ten years since the peace process) at the Teatro Imperial to examine a decade of peace negotiations in Colombia.

The congress, organized by the Colombian Association of Historians and the University of Nariño, focuses on regional perspectives and border history. Other scheduled topics include armed conflict memory, indigenous history, and agrarian conflicts.

In Chile, the IdeaPaís study center is hosting a seminar titled ‘Ecos del 18-0’ (Echoes of 18-0) on October 10. The event aims to reflect on the social unrest that began on October 18, 2019, and its lasting impact on the country’s political and social institutions. The panel will feature former minister Karla Rubilar, deputy José Montalva, and researcher Jorge Cordero.
