Political leadership changes announced for Barakaldo and Campos

In Barakaldo, EH Bildu has confirmed that María Solar Romero will run for mayor for the third time in the May 2027 municipal elections. Solar, a 47-year-old social educator and councilwoman for nearly a decade, was selected by the coalition to lead a project focused on affordable housing, strong public services, and opportunities for young people.

In Campos, Mayor Francisca Porquer (PP) has announced she will not seek re-election in 2027, ending an eight-year tenure marked by two consecutive absolute majorities. Porquer will transition to national politics, joining the PP's candidacy for the Congress of Deputies in the upcoming general elections on November 29.
