Political leadership changes reported in Mexico and Argentina

In Mexico, the Institutional Revolutionary Party (PRI) is facing significant internal attrition. Key figures including former municipal president and deputy David Sánchez Guevara, former legislator Rodrigo Reina, and former Tlalnepantla municipal leader Edgar Enrique Spencer have resigned. These departures are attributed to leadership styles under national leader Alejandro ‘Alito’ Moreno and state leader Cristina Ruiz, with critics citing authoritarianism and internal rigidity as causes for the loss of experienced cadres and territorial presence.

In Argentina, the GEN party has accepted the resignation of its president, Rodrigo Santamaría. This development follows intense friction within the local Council between opposition and officialist blocs. The Fuerza Patria bloc has called for the immediate removal of the Legislative Pro-secretary, citing concerns over institutional trust and political influence regarding judicial complaints. Conversely, a coalition including La Libertad Avanza, Unión Cívica Radical, and PRO Azul has repudiated Fuerza Patria’s stance, accusing them of politicizing a sensitive judicial matter.
