Political maneuvering begins for 2028 municipal elections in Brazil

Political discussions regarding the 2028 municipal elections are emerging in several Brazilian municipalities.

In Araçariguama, three figures are gaining traction for the mayoral race: former mayor Carlos Aymar, current councilwoman and former mayor Lili Aymar, and councilman Helton da Van. Helton da Van has shown progressive growth in recent election cycles, most recently being re-elected in 2024.

In Vilhena, potential candidates for the 2028 mayoral election are being discussed in political circles. Possible names include Wagner Borges, the current municipal health secretary, and Celso Machado, a physician and president of the Municipal Chamber who was the most voted councilman in 2024. Additionally, former federal deputy Natan Donadon has re-entered the political radar following his 2026 run for federal deputy.
