Political mobilization and legal disputes arise in Paraíba

The Liberal Party (PL) has scheduled two political events in João Pessoa, Paraíba, on October 22 and 23. The agenda includes a women's meeting in the Mangabeira neighborhood organized by PL Mulher to increase female political participation, and a mobilization known as ‘Bloquinho 22’ on Avenida Epitácio Pessoa. The latter event is expected to feature leaders such as Federal Deputy Cabo Gilberto and Alfredo Gaspar, as part of political articulation supporting Flávio Bolsonaro.

In a separate development, the Electoral Court of Paraíba has intervened in a dispute between the PL and the Brasil da Esperança Federation (comprising PT, PCdoB, and PV) in Pedra Lavrada. A judge ruled that the PL must limit its planned parade and demonstration to a four-hour duration. The decision follows a conflict over the use of public roads, with the judge stating that priority in registration cannot lead to the ‘abusive monopolization of public thoroughfares’ or the ‘annihilation of the concurrent rights’ of opposing political groups. The court cited concerns regarding public safety due to the heightened tensions between opposing supporters.
