Political movements launch new parties and campaigns in Senegal and France

In Senegal, Mamadou Kassé, president of the Tambacounda Departmental Council, officially launched the Rassemblement du Peuple Républicain (RPR), also known as ‘Yoonu Ndam’. The party, founded on values of republicanism, social justice, and territorial development, includes local officials such as Ibrahima Ndiaye and Modou Ndao. During the launch, local leaders invited the new formation to join the presidential majority, a move Kassé noted he is mandated to explore through potential alliances.

In France, the local branch of the Rassemblement National (RN 974) held its political relaunch in La Réunion. Departmental delegate Jean-Jacques Morel called for unity behind Marine Le Pen ahead of the 2027 presidential election. The party’s platform focuses on purchasing power, employment, and food sovereignty, with specific proposals for overseas territories including tax breaks and reduced charges to combat unemployment and the high cost of living.
