Republika Srpska elections: SNSD projected to win significant mandates
As elections approach in Bosnia and Herzegovina, political activity and polling data indicate significant trends for major parties. According to Metriks agency research, the SNSD party is projected to secure more than one-third of the mandates in the National Assembly of Republika Srpska. In the race for the President of Republika Srpska, Savo Minić is identified as the frontrunner, while Željka Cvijanović maintains a substantial lead in the contest for the Serbian member of the Presidency.
Political candidates are intensifying their campaigns. SNSD's Željka Cvijanović has emphasized goals of security, stability, and improved living standards through increased pensions and salaries. Meanwhile, analysts note a perceived decline in interest from the international community compared to previous election cycles, suggesting global issues may be diverting attention from the region.
Technological changes are also set to impact the voting process. The Central Election Commission is introducing biometric identification and ballot scanning devices intended to prevent fraud. However, some analysts and citizens have expressed concerns regarding the complexity of these new systems and the potential for technical failures or increased invalid ballots.
