Posadas proposes municipal electoral reform and parking changes
In Posadas, Argentina, several legislative initiatives have been introduced to reform local governance and urban services. A new project for the Municipal Electoral Regime has been presented to the City Council, proposing the creation of a Municipal Electoral Tribunal, the implementation of a single paper ballot (Boleta Única de Papel), and the establishment of a 'Clean Slate' (Ficha Limpia) law to prohibit candidates with corruption convictions from running for office. The project also seeks to enable voting for 16 and 17-year-olds and regularize the registry for foreign residents.
Additionally, a proposal has entered the legislative process to reform the Measured Parking System (SEM). The initiative suggests providing one hour of free parking via a digital platform and eliminating mandatory payments on weekends and holidays. To stimulate local commerce, the project includes a 'Tax Refund' program where users making purchases over $10,000 at participating businesses could receive parking discounts.
Separately, the Posadas City Council has approved an investigation into Councilman Jair Dib regarding unjustified absences during the legislative session. Dib has dismissed the proceedings as a political distraction.
