Turkey regional news: local governance and economic developments
Various regional developments are occurring across Turkey. In Balıkesir, the Metropolitan Municipality has increased inspections in the city center to prevent illegal parking on sidewalks and bus stops, aiming to improve pedestrian safety and traffic flow.
In İzmir, political shifts and infrastructure investments are underway. AK Party officials visited Çiğli Mayor Onur Emrah Yıldız following his resignation from the CHP. Announced supports for Çiğli include road and sidewalk renovations via the İller Bankası, vehicle fleet financing, and new walking and cycling paths. Plans for a comprehensive urban transformation project and a new 'Millet Bahçesi' (Nation's Garden) by TOKİ are also in development.
In the business sector, the Denizli Young Businessmen's Association (DEGİAD) held meetings in İzmir to explore economic cooperation between the two cities, focusing on textile, production, and export opportunities. Meanwhile, in Iğdır, political discussions emphasized the necessity of local production, food and energy independence, and respect for Azerbaijan's internal affairs.
Cultural events continue with the 13th Konya Book Days, featuring 42 authors as a tribute to the city's license plate, and the 7th Çayırova Book Days, which hosted author Saliha Erdim for a discussion on family life.
