Political shifts emerge in Algeria and Haiti ahead of elections

In Algeria, six political parties have met in Algiers to discuss forming alliances ahead of the local elections scheduled for November 28. The groups aim to create joint lists for municipal and provincial elections to pool human and political resources. This strategy is intended to strengthen their local presence and prevent the fragmentation of votes among parties with similar orientations.

In Haiti, several prominent political figures are re-emerging as potential candidates for the 2026 elections. This group includes individuals such as Michel Martelly, Laurent Lamothe, and Jocelerme Privert, many of whom have been subject to international sanctions by Canada and the United States. While these sanctions often involve asset freezes or travel restrictions, the individuals continue to maintain political influence through various parties and alliances.
