Political shifts emerge in Toluca as PAN and Morena face internal tensions

Political tensions are rising in Toluca, Mexico, as parties prepare for the 2027 and 2029 electoral cycles. Senator Enrique Vargas del Villar of the National Action Party (PAN) announced the party is working toward unity and strengthening its presence in the State of Mexico. He highlighted the recent addition of Evelyn Osornio Jiménez to the PAN following her resignation from the PRI.

Simultaneously, founding members of the Morena party in Toluca have voiced strong opposition to political re-election. These militants criticized the party for favoring candidates from opposition backgrounds, such as the PRI and PAN, who are now running under the Morena banner. They argued that such moves are incongruent with the movement's original principles and called for honest, new leadership rather than personal ambitions.
