Political shifts in Mixco and failed recall attempt in Aipe

In Guatemala, Mixco councilwoman Cindy Rodríguez has announced her departure from the Raíces political proposal. Rodríguez cited a lack of political support to strengthen her oversight and fiscalization work within the municipality. She stated that after dialogue with her base, she decided to disaffiliate to pursue a new stage of political action focused on building a solid alternative for Mixco.

In Colombia, an attempt to remove the mayor of Aipe, Luis Ángel Ramírez Vargas, via a recall mechanism has failed. The National Civil Registry (Registraduría Nacional del Estado Civil) certified that the pro-recall committee did not meet the necessary constitutional and legal requirements. Although 1,410 signatures were submitted, only 307 were validated, falling short of the 1,203 required signatures. The committee expressed disappointment with the outcome, while the mayor characterized the municipality as being highly politicized.
