Political shifts in Uganda and Zambia involve leadership challenges and new opposition roles
In Uganda, Kasambya County Member of Parliament Kabanda has called for the removal of Kahinda Otafiire, accusing him of failing to recognize the contributions of young people and PLU supporters to the NRM’s election victory. Kabanda warned that if corrupt individuals like Otafiire are not removed from the coalition government, the PLU may reconsider its alliance with the NRM. He emphasized that fighting corruption is a central component of the Tuko Pamoja alliance agreement.
In Zambia, Kelvin Kaunda, Member of Parliament for the Lima Constituency, has congratulated Stephen Kampyongo on his election as the Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly. Representing the National Reconciliation Party for Unity and Prosperity (NRPUP), Kaunda noted that Kampyongo’s 15 years of parliamentary experience in both executive and legislative roles makes him well-suited to guide the opposition and strengthen parliamentary oversight.
